Dartmouth & Kingswear have so much to offer. Sitting either side of the majestic River Dart with wooded hills providing backdrops these are two of the most attractive destinations in wonderful South Devon.
This is a destination for all seasons. The river alive with fishing boats, ferries and dinghies coming and going all day and wonderful yachts moored in the marinas.
The entrance to the river is ‘watched over’ by Kingswear Castle on one side and Dartmouth Castle on the other, with the majestic Britannia Royal Naval College looking on from upstream.
Visit Dartmouth at any time of year it has so much to offer every visitor whether it be an interest in history, the enjoyment of beautiful coastal walks, the love of great food, the desire to shop, enjoy art or simply the need to relax on a beautiful beach it is all here or minutes away.
Dartmouth also has many events throughout the year including; the Food Festival in October, art exhibitions throughout the year, fishing festival, Christmas markets in December, various sailing events including the famous Regatta in August with the Red Arrows and many other events.
Kingswear is a charming village on the sunnier side of the river where the buildings rise up steeply from the river. There are delightful windy streets, friendly pubs and wonderful views across the river. On the river there is a large marina with amazing yachts to admire. The steam train runs regularly from Kingswear to Paignton and is always popular with visitors. Kingswear is a fantastic starting point for either walking along the beautiful coast or discovering the Dart Valley Trail.
