There are three English Heritage Castles on your doorstep (Dartmouth, Totnes and Berry Pomeroy Castle) so there is plenty to explore, and Dartmouth Castle regularly holds events for children and adults alike, such as ‘Step back in Time’, ‘Knights Trail’ and ‘Pirates Invade’.
There are also two National Trust houses (www.nationaltrust.org.uk) within 10 minutes drive; Greenaway - Agatha Christie’s holiday home, and Coleton Fishacre with its 30 acre coastal gardens and a house full of furniture, arts and crafts from the 1920’s.
Berry Head, on the coast in Brixham (www.countryside-trust.org.uk/berryhead), is a National Nature Reserve & heritage site. Home to fascinating wildlife and history, with Napoleonic War fortifications.
